Car Loan Calculator for Australia

Before you sign anything at the dealership in Melbourne’s west or anywhere else in Victoria, it’s worth knowing what your repayments will actually look like. Our car loan calculator works out your repayments based on the loan amount, rate, and term you’re considering. That way, you can shop with real numbers in hand.

How This Car Loan Repayment Calculator Works and Helps You

Enter the amount you’re looking to borrow, the interest rate, and the loan term, along with any deposit or trade-in you’re putting toward the car. The calculator uses those figures to work out your regular repayments, whether you’re paying weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. It also shows you the total interest over the life of the loan.

If you’re weighing up a shorter term against a longer one, or wondering how a bigger deposit changes things, this car finance calculator lets you test a few scenarios before you commit to a lender or a dealership finance offer.

Frequently Asked Questions

These are the questions people usually ask before taking out a car loan.

A tool that estimates your regular repayments on a car loan, based on the amount borrowed, interest rate, term, and any deposit or trade-in.

Not necessarily. Dealership finance is arranged on the spot and can be convenient, but it’s worth comparing against other lenders, since rates and terms can vary significantly.

Yes, a larger deposit or trade-in reduces the amount you need to borrow. That lowers both your repayments and the total interest paid over the loan.

A shorter term means higher repayments but less interest overall. A longer term lowers your regular repayments but costs more in total interest; it depends on what fits your budget.

Yes, lenders usually give better rates to people who have a better credit history. They may also change rates or terms for people who have little or no credit history.

Often yes, though some lenders charge an early exit or break fee, especially on fixed-rate car loans. Worth checking the loan terms before assuming you can pay it off ahead of schedule.

If you get a car loan, you own the car and pay back the lender. A novated lease is set up by your company and paid for with money from your pre-tax salary. This can have different tax effects that you should talk to an accountant about.

We compare car finance options across 52+ lenders, so you’re not stuck with whatever rate the dealership offers on the day.
