Comparison Rate Calculator for Australia

Comparing loans shouldn’t feel like guesswork. Use our free comparison rate calculator to see the true cost of any loan based on your own numbers. Then compare lenders with real confidence, instead of relying on marketing rates.

How Our Comparison Rate Calculator Helps You?

Our comparison rate calculator takes the guesswork out of comparing loans by revealing their true cost, not just the advertised rate. It helps you spot hidden fees that inflate a loan’s real price, and weigh up offers from different lenders on equal footing. That way, you can avoid choosing a loan that looks cheap upfront but costs more over time.

Whether you’re refinancing in Victoria or comparing new loan options, it gives you the clarity to make a confident, well-informed decision. Our brokers back that up with access to 52+ lenders.

Things You Should Know

Frequently Asked Questions

The comparison rate questions are worth understanding before you compare loans.

It’s a tool that works out a comparison rate using your own loan amount, interest rate, and fees. That’s different from the standard example lenders are required to publish.

The advertised rate only reflects interest. The comparison rate adds in most fees, giving a more complete picture of what the loan will actually cost you.

Typically, ongoing fees include annual or monthly account fees, and upfront fees include establishment charges. National credit regulations set the exact inclusions, so they’re consistent across lenders.

Government charges, optional fees, and costs tied to how you use the loan, like redraw or early repayment fees, usually aren’t part of the calculation.

It’s an official legal requirement under Australian credit law, designed to stop lenders advertising a low headline rate while recovering the difference through fees.

Not reliably. The lender’s published example is based on a standard loan amount, so it won’t match your figures exactly. Running your own numbers through this calculator gives a more like-for-like comparison.

Not automatically. A slightly higher comparison rate can be worth it for features like an offset account or unlimited redraw; it depends on how you plan to use the loan.
