Credit Card Payoff Calculator for Australia

Paying only the minimum on a credit card can keep you in debt far longer than it looks on paper. Our credit card payoff calculator shows exactly how long it’ll take to clear your balance, and how much interest you’ll pay along the way.

How This Credit Card Payoff Calculator Works

Enter your card balance, interest rate, and repayment amount, whether that’s the minimum or a higher fixed amount, and the calculator works out your payoff timeline and total interest cost. Adjust the repayment figure and see immediately how much time and interest a higher payment could save you, before you decide what actually to put toward the card each month.

This credit card repayment calculator also doubles as a credit card interest calculator, since it shows exactly how much of what you’re paying is going toward interest versus your actual balance, useful if you’re deciding between paying it down faster or exploring debt consolidation with a broker.

A repayment calculator focuses on your payoff timeline based on what you pay each month. An interest calculator focuses specifically on how much interest accrues over time; this tool covers both.

Yes — even a modest increase above the minimum can noticeably cut both your payoff time and total interest, since more of each payment goes toward the actual balance.

Credit card interest rates are usually higher than typical savings returns, so paying down the card first is often the better move. However, a broker or financial adviser can help weigh up your specific situation.

You can run each card through separately to compare, or combine balances for a rough estimate; just keep in mind rates and minimums often differ by card.

It can be, if the new loan’s rate is lower than your card’s, but it depends on the loan terms and your overall financial position, which a broker can help assess.
